ALWIS Panel Discussion
60 years of Challenges & Achievements

ALWIS hosted a panel discussion on the 5th July 2022 with several Algerian women scientists from different STEM Fields to review together the challenges and obstacles faced by Algerian women in STEMM and highlight the achievements and accomplishements of Algerian women in STEMM, Then & Now!
In order to highlight the journey of science and academia in Algeria, where we started and we are today 60 years after the independence of our country, a group of ALWIS volunteers did a research work on the topic and presented their finding during the event.

I am the only woman in this role in MENA region and the only one with Chemical and Process Engineering Profile within NAF.

ALWIS 2021 Retrospective

Another year comes to a close — and there are plenty of things to celebrate. We’re taking a look back at the biggest news and achievement of our community in 2021, showing you how ALWIS grew during this year and all the activities we carried.
With the hard work of our volunteers, we expanded our team and network, launched our first mentoring program, plus hosted several events and workshops. More importantly, we had the chance to meet many astonishing Algerian women scientists.
​As we look forward to the next year, we welcome new members to join our ALWIS community. We are looking forward to meeting more Algerian Women in Science next year and continuing the adventure of building our community, Together! 
2021 has been an incredible year for ALWIS. Stay tuned for more exciting things for 2022!

Interview With Safia Bourougaa

ALWIS Petroleum Engineering Community led by Nina Chalah hosted for their first event a distinguished speaker: Safia Bourougaa an Algerian Drilling Engineer who works as a Drilling Rig Manager and has more than 18 years of work experience in Drilling. Safia is an engineer specializing in oil exploration and production. She graduated from the Algerian Petroleum Institute, class of 2003 and she joined the "National Company of Petroleum Works.
