Meet ALWIS Volunteers
Amel Makour; Volunteer in Communication Team
I am a graduate with a master’s degree in Biochemistry of Nutrition from Mouloud Mammeri University of Tizi-Ouzou. I aim to pursue my Ph.D. studies in the field of nutrition and health. Through my academic path, I was privileged to live amazing experiences by volunteering in two associations. Not only it revealed my human side but it also nudged me on a personnel level. From a mission to another, I was stretching out of my comfort zone. I was unlocking my potential in new areas; public speaking, teaching, bringing creative ideas, and implementing them.
Volunteering within ALWIS has come across an imminent transition in my life which is post-graduation. No matter how small, crazy, or big the idea is, they listened to me. More importantly, they gave me the space to make it happen with a strong belief that I could do it. Hence, they let my personality and creativity shine and rise through content creation. |
Wissal Nada Sengouga; Volunteer with ALWIS MDs CommunityI'm a final year M.D candidate, a science digital content creator and advocate for women’s and youth empowerment. I decided to join ALWIS because it’s the 1st network that is dedicated to women in STEMM in Algeria.

Ahlem Bakelli; Volunteer with ALWIS Biology Community
Hello there! It's Ahlem, a Master’s student in biotechnology and molecular pathologies at USTHB and a current member in many communities in diverse fields, including “ALWIS Biology Community”. I chose ALWIS because I saw the shiny future to enhance and improve STEM in Algeria especially "biology" which keeps struggling day by day to impose itself and be more valuable. Through ALWIS biology community, I aim to learn more about biotechnology and the different technologies, to develop scientific research in Algeria, and of course to meet and get to know amazing ambitious Algerian women in STEM.
Anfel Bouderbala; Volunteer with ALWIS MDs Community
I'm an M.D Candidate at Batna2 University. I had many experiences during my educational path at university where I volunteered with associations and clubs and I had amazing experiences. From volunteering to training to organizing to teaching, and this added a lot to my personality: leadership, public speaking, teamwork, time management. Moreover, I participated in online educational programs (Summer University) and training (research capacity building courses). I'm volunteering with ALWIS because I hope to help Algerian women in medecine and to encourage them to be skilled medical students in both aspects: clinical practicing and medical research.

Lilia Megherbi, M.D.; Volunteer with ALWIS MDs Community
I am an Algerian Medical Doctor. I graduated from the faculty of medicine of Tizi Ouzou in 2018. I pursue post-graduation training in Neurology currently. As a child, I always wanted to help people, which motivated me to become a doctor. At med school, I loved neurology and was inclined towards neurosciences and exploring the human brain. During the past four years of training in the department of neurology of the University Hospital of Tizi Ouzou, I had the opportunity to work with patients with different neurological disorders, mainly multiple sclerosis, neuroinflammatory diseases, stroke, epilepsy and memory deficits. I developed a particular interest in Neuroimmunology and Multiple sclerosis, as well as academic research. I participated in many national and international congresses with research work and case reports. I was granted the ACTRIMS Young Investigator Grant in 2021.
Volunteering has been one of my favourite pastimes since my childhood. During my Uni time, I was an active member of many student clubs and associations. We worked to raise awareness among people about the different health issues and preventive methods. As an ALWIS mentee since November 2020, I had the opportunity to expand my network and learn from many Algerian women scientists all over the globe, which encouraged me to volunteer with them. |
Chaima Anane; Volunteer with ALWIS Biology Community
I'm an engineer in applied biochemistry, I am planning to finish my Ph.D. in Algeria or if I get the chance abroad. I had many experiences during my education at university, and I have done much practical training in many hospitals, research institutes, and pharmacies… I participated in many scientific committees, in online programs and courses (Summer schools, courses on websites). I'm volunteering in diverse communities (charity, and scientific communities....).
I joined ALWIS because I really want to motivate Algerian women to study and work and assist them in that, as well as for the development of science in general and biology in particular in Algeria. I really want to advance the field of scientific research in Algeria. |

Sara Nawel GASMI ; Volunteer with ALWIS Chemistry Community
I hold a Ph.D. in chemistry since February 2015, obtained at the University of Rouen in France. I currently hold the position of teacher-researcher at the University of Medea in Algeria. Curious and detail-oriented, I enjoy exploring research in my field. There is nothing more exciting for me than to share my discoveries, transmit my knowledge to students, and to inspire them to want to learn more about a given subject by themselves. It is with great interest that I turned my attention to ALWIS in order to exercise my passion, widen my audience, and push and motivate others by tackling large-scale subjects.

Sabryna Kamiri ; Volunteer with ALWIS Electronics Community
Greetings, My name is Kamiri Sabryna, I'm 20 years old, a student of Telecommunications at U.S.T.H.B. I'm a graduate with a license degree in telecommunications, and in the past 3 years of my study, I managed to gain many experiences about networking field besides discovering my new personal skills and being able to develop my ideas across that field. Volunteering with ''ALWIS'' was a great experience in my personal career, because it felt like a suitable place for any of my ideas in order to bring them into reality, what I liked most about it, was that I developed the ability to make a speech in front of public which was an issue for me previously, everyone is creative in their way, and ''ALWIS'' is the place where they extract every piece of creativity inside us and they have all the space for it, just like unlimited cloud storage, indeed.
